Lately the buzz seems to be everywhere, everywhere I look. Social networking sites, magazines, conversations between girls at my school including my own friends.
It's the same old thing, girls wanting perfection. Speaking as a teenage girl myself I can understand why girls would want to be perfect. To me it's all through pressure, pressure from boys, pressure from other 'skinnier', more 'perfect' girls, pressure from images in the media.
If you were to pick a group of people in the history of the human race to have the most malleable minds, it would be the teenage girls of my generation.
To be perfectly honest, I hate my generation. I hate the fact that girls feel so pushed to be perfect, at the end of the day this post becomes a rant about media. Being a media student and a teenage girl, I am greatly aware of how much media images can influence people.
The truth is, there is no 'perfection'. It is a word that should have permanent air quotations either side of it. My rule is that I eat when I'm hungry, that's the way it should be, if you have a decent diet and you know you are eating enough food to keep you healthy and energetic then do whatever the hell you want. Girls can't accept what they look like any more.
Walking through the corridors at school, I hear girls talking about diets and extra exercise plans to be able to get a 'thigh gap'. For those of you who don't know what this is it is creating a gap between each inner thigh, and it's totally unrealistic. Not only do girls feel the need to diet but do extra exercises to create these kind of 'perfect' body formations. What most girls don't realise is that what they are trying to achieve could be impossible, some girls simply do not have the body composition to create a gap.
One exercise that is said to make your bum look more toned is the '30 day squat challenge', it has been spread around social networking sites and the general Internet for months, it involves a 30 days long exercise plan purely made up of squats. Day 1 consists of 50 squats and by day 30 you are doing 250 squats. I get it if you want a nice arse, go for it, give it a try, but I personally have seen 12-16 year old girls discussing how their squat challenge is going and to be honest it kind of sickens me, I know exactly why girls this age want the perfect arse- BOYS. Realistically girls don't give a toss what their arses looks like, you can't see them half the time anyway, they care about what boys think of them. This is one of the far too many ways media images sexualise young girls.
I hear my own, very close friends talking about how they are getting fat and need to go on a diet and I know that they are perfect and their bodies are ideal for them and the activities they do, but telling them they are fine just the way they are is getting boring. They don't listen. What's worse is that they are in the prime of their lives and they don't even realise it. Being a teenager is about shoving your face full of food and then going outside for a run around with your friends
When I was 7 or 8 I wanted to grow up and be able to wear high heels and make-up and be perfect and tanned and skinny, just like how everyone else is. But if you look around at the 'real society' it's nothing at all like that.
When I started to be able to wear high heels and make-up you realise it's nothing like what it seems. High heels kill your feet and make-up gives you spots, it's just a big pain really. So when teenage girl gets bored and fed up with the make-up and clothes etc. they look for something else to play with, something much more fragile- their bodies.
I'm not trying to tell teenage girls to stop trying to be 'perfect', because I know they won't listen.
I'm just saying nobody is.
Lets see how it goes

Trying again...
I know, it's been a while. I haven't written in too long.
I'm not even going to lie. Being a teenager isn't all that stressful for me. I have everything that I need and it doesn't matter that I don't have everything I want. I have GCSE's but for me (unlike most other teenagers) they don't seem all that important. Don't get me wrong, I always revise for major tests.
Some people wouldn't think it sensible for me to think this, but for me my priorities have always had my own happiness at the top of the list. Above exams, jobs, homework etc.
Most people would probably say I'm selfish, and to be honest and up front I think I probably am. It's not something I like about myself at all but at the end of the day, it only affects me and I would say I'm a whole lot happier than any other teenager I know.
I would have stopped the laid back attitude a while ago if it had affected my grades, but if anything it made them better. I come home from school and if I don't have any tests or projects for the next day then I sit down and watch Gilmore Girls until I have dance class. I usually do homework at most, 24 hours before it's supposed to be handed in. It works!
I know there will be point when I have to really get into studying and working, and my priorities will most definitely switch around, but until those harrowing days I can put my happiness and well-being before anything else.
Until next time

p.s- I'm currently writing a story on Wattpad.com and it would really mean a lot if I could get some feedback so go check it out! x ----------> http://www.wattpad.com/story/3785833-beyond-control

Have a read if you want??
I have recently decided to start writing a story I have had in my mind for a while now, if you could click on the link below and just read the first chapter it would be a pleasure to get anyone's feedback, it is based on angels and demons and has some romance in there as well! I'll leave the blurb below. Thank You! :)
Alba is a normal yet slightly unusual teenager, she gets on with her life quietly as ever since her dad was mysteriously murdered she hasn't been quite the same. That is until kade shows up, with a supernatural first meeting, she knows he's not just an average teenage boy. After an interesting trip to a history museum, Kade and Alba start to get curious of each other and attempt to investigate each others secrets and pasts, they will unexpectedly discover things even they didn't know about themselves.

It's been a while...
It's been quite a while since I last posted on here so I thought I might owe you an explanation, that is if anyone actually cares. It's GCSE year for me and - scrap that, that's barely an excuse, I've had lots of free time and I'm not going to lie, I'm going to use the reason that most of the cretins in my school use to explain why they haven't done their homework, I forgot. What any teenager would tell you (and they're lying), is that they were busy studying for a certain exam etc etc. But what they fail to mention is that they are trying and failing at that.
When trying to revise for a subject you don't like, you feel like EVERY little thing in your room is on a mission to distract you, for example today I was trying to revise for a physics exam and these were my distractions:
When trying to revise for a subject you don't like, you feel like EVERY little thing in your room is on a mission to distract you, for example today I was trying to revise for a physics exam and these were my distractions:
- A bird chirping outside- I taped up the edges of my window (-5 minutes)
- My desk had permanent marker on it- Got the Cif out (-5 minutes)
- I was hungry- Made some pasta (-15 minutes)
- I realised I didn't know where my phone was- went searching (-10 minutes)
- My bed wasn't made- Made it (- 2 minutes)
- Floor was cluttered- Tidied (-20 minutes)
- My carpet had crumbs on it- Did vaccuming (-10 minutes)
- Clothes that needed washing were on the floor- put them in the wash (-3 minutes)
The moral of the story is, tell a child to revise for a test and they'll spend an hour and 10 minutes tidying their room.

What's all that about?
Okay so recently I've been noticing the way a few people at my school behave. You may know the type of people I'm talking about. The ones who go to Afflecks on weekends, who straighten their hair so much it sticks to their foreheads and who clog up your tumblr dashboard with emotional pictures of them with their head down and middle finger to the camera. Well my school is full of people like that, and just so I'm clear, I have no problem with these types of people but I'm interested to know why they are so obsessed with being different. Now I'm all for standing out from the crowd and being unique, but shoving your opinions down other peoples throats is a different story. You see their Facebook statuses, for example:
*girl wears guys clothes*Society: no one cares , doesn't really make a difference*guy wears girls clothes*Society: thats messed up. Total freak. What a fag THIS. IS. PURE. SEXISM.
I don't understand why these are necessary, I understand that people want to get the word out that people need to start getting used to seeing things that aren't the norm, but doing it over and over again it gets a bit annoying. In my opinion if I was them, I would think 'screw what they think, their opinion doesn't matter' and move on. If they don't get it once they won't get it again. They need to understand that this is a cruel world and people aren't always going to agree with them.
People that are like this are usually really nice people, but this is a side of them I'm very curious of so if anyone wants to shed any light on this, I welcome all opinions. Also if anyone has any topics they'd like me to talk about, let me know in the comment section.
Thanks for reading!

Over analysing much?
Okay, so lately I have realised how everyone seems to want to over analyse everything. In my English class all my teacher ever talks about is analysing things. Why do we feel the need to do this? What is it that possesses us to fully understand and know about things. Is it our natural urge to be in the know of important/unimportant things? I for one feel like it can sometimes be a bad thing, as some things should remain a wonder and a mystery like who the mother is in How I Met Your Mother and if Rachel and Ross ever got married again. Just thought I'd share my thoughts on it! Let me know what you think?
