Blackberry Madness

Last year Blackberry sold over 100 million Blackberries, everywhere you go now, there is someone's eyes fixed onto a Blackberry screen, so I hear you ask, why is this? Well my theory is, there are 2 types of people that have and use Blackberries
1-People who actually use them for their proper use, email and as a business phone
2-People who are ridiculously attached to social networking, texting and gossiping

You can easily tell these 2 types apart, type 1's only look at their phone when it rings or they get an email etc. They are mostly adults. Whereas type 2's are constantly checking, no matter if they get an alert or not. They are  mostly teenagers who, are most of the time, girls.

I think there is nothing wrong with type 1's as this is for their job. But type 2's simply do not need a Blackberry, they do not NEED to be bbming their friends. Yes, it's fine to text your friends but to be permanently attached by the hands to your phone and constantly tap tapping away on the keyboard 24/7 is just pure unhealthy.

I think, in the case of teenage girls (being one myself) when one girl walks past another or a group, even if they are the same age, depending on self-confidence levels they feel threatened. So as a result they get their phone out and use it as their 'shield', it's almost as if it is their passport to blend in and be 'cool.

Just thought I'd give this ago since I was thinking about it the other day.

  1. You make a valid point, especially on Blackberries being used as a shield. It has now become a status symbol for adults and teens alike and flashing it about, gives the owner some kind of gravitas.

Around where I live, there are eight year old with Blackberries...EIGHT! I'm a grown arsed woman and even I don't own a Blackberry!! LOL

Great post but you don't have a following widget. :)

  3. I love your posts- think they are really good- we are at a similar level :) feel free to take a look at mine and give some useful advise (sounds better than criticism!)haha!

I am going to slightly disagree with this post though, maybe that is because I am a blackberry user- I do admit when i feel awkward I do get it out, this is not a status thing though- I did before i got it! I have mine because I dont like touch screen and all good contracts are on smart phones- blackberry is one of the few with buttons left! on the whole i don't need a blackberry- but now i have one i wouldn't go back- so have you got a phone where you don't bget emails etc? because all smart phones that you get now have similar functions?!

Just a personal view- that's what these are for, are they not?!
